Authorizations enable i:c to turn on and off Items and Questions on the Call Form using selections made during setup by the Account Team. Authorizations generally come from the client during the ramp up of the program.

Item list and Authorization Matrix
The first step is to obtain a list of items (Products, Skus, Sku Categories) from the client that lists the manufacturer and the Retailer(s) it is available in. Often this list is organized as an authorization matrix where the products are listed vertically and the retailers listed horizontally, where they meet the products are available in the retailer.
Item Authorizations to Chain/Store and Question Association
Items are used to collect information about a product at a retailer. This step allows an item to be displayed on the call form for all retailers or only the retailers or stores specified. Use the authorization matrix to select the correct retailers for each product.
Items are authorized to Chains/Stores by the Account Team so specific items are only displayed on the call form when the field rep goes to a specific chain. Items are also associated to questions so the Account Team can fine tune which questions are appropriate to ask for each item.

Question to Chain/Store Authorizations
Questions are authorized to chains by the Account Team so specific questions are only displayed on the call form when the field rep goes to a specific chain. This is used in cases where the question is only applicable for a specific chain or store and would not make sense for others. Having this fine control over the questions appearing on the call form gives greater flexibility to the Account Team/Client and protects against errors in data entry by the field.
