Configuring a Course's General Settings Introduction The main goal of this article is to guide you through configuring a course's basic properties within Engage Center. You can set up a course's properties (settings) either after initially creating the course or by editing an existing course from the Course Management menu. Settings that require an action will be marked (REQUIRED) This article assumes you have the appropriate permissions in Engage Center to create and modify courses. General Settings Details (REQUIRED): Here you will be able to edit the course's core information. Important - This information must always be included when creating a course in Engage Center. Title - Ensure that your course title is simple and clear, allowing users to instantly understand the topic of the course. If you are creating multiple courses in a sequence or similar groupings, use a consistent titling format. Course Category - Select the category that best aligns with your course. Description - Provide a detailed description of your course to help users better understand what will be taught. Thumbnail - Choose or upload a thumbnail that best illustrates your course's training material. Please note, when uploading, the accepted thumbnail image size to grant the image quality on all devices is 800x400px (Ratio 2:1) at a maximum file size of 4MB. PNG, JPEG and JPG are all acceptable formats. Average Time - Here is where you dictate the expected course's duration and simultaneously its time payout in Hours:Minuntes. For example, 00:17 would translate to 17 minutes in duration. IMPORTANT - This time duration is what Insight Center uses to payout employees for completing this course. Failure to enter an Average Time will result in the course posting a 60-minute payout in Insight Center. Course Additional Fields (REQUIRED): This information would have been entered when initially creating the course although you may edit these details at any time. Course Owner - Who to contact with questions/issues - This should be the person who has direct knowledge of the course's application and its enrollments. Target Audience - Teamm/Role, Etc. - Please be as specific as possible. Course Enrollment Method - This field provides our Engage Center team insight into how the course is being administered by the course creator. Manual Enrollment (Rally Call, Enroll via CSV, Other) - Implies that course enrollments are being manually assigned by the course creator. Automated Enrollment (IC)/Enrollment Rules (EC) - Implies that course enrollments are being automatically assigned by either Insight Center call form automation or Engage Center Enrollment Rules. Enrollment Options (Optional): Here you may opt into different enrollment avenues as well as granting self-unenrollment permissions. By default, these settings are turned off. Self-Unenrollment - Activating this setting allows enrolled users to unenroll themselves from said course by their own volition. Enrollment Link - On activation, a URL link will be generated allowing users to self-enroll directly from the provided link. Time Options (Optional): Here you may choose to set a period of time in which a course is available to be taken. By default, these settings are turned off with the exception of 'Soft Deadline On'. Validity Period - Choose a specific Start Date, End Date or Period that the course is accessible. Days of Validity - Choose a specific number of days that the course is accessible. Soft Deadline - Activating " Enable custom deadline settings for this course" with any of the above validity settings setup offers the following configurations: Soft Deadline Off - This will enforce a strict window of availability for this course per the set Validity Period or Days of Validity. Meaning, learners will not be able to access the course if they are passed or out of the course's designated window of availability. Soft Deadline On (Default) - This will allow users to continue to access the course even if they are passed or out of the course's designated window of availability. Navigation (Required): The navigation policy of a course establishes the order in which learners will have to complete a course's training material. This must be considered before publishment and enrollment. Free Navigation (Default) - All training materials are unlocked allowing learners to go through the course in their preferred order. Sequential Navigation (Strongly Recommended) - Leaners will have to complete and pass the training materials in the order in which they have been configured on the Training Materials page. Completion of the First Mandatory Training Material - Learners will gain access to all training materials (in their preferred order) if they have completed and passed the first training material configured on the training materials page. Final Training Material Locked - All training materials must be completed and passed (in whichever order the learner prefers) for the final training material to be unlocked. Maximum Number of Attempts (Optional): This section enables you to set a maximum number of attempts to pass the training materials associated with a score within the course. Please note that the number of attempts would be applied to every single training material Once this limit has been reached, the learner will be locked out of the training material they did not pass. If you select to enable this setting, a value will need to be entered to define the number of attempts allowed. Congratulations! You have successfully completed setting up your course.
