Commute - Mileage and Drive Time
Mileage/Drive Time Commute
A commute is generally defined as the distance or time that the employee could reasonably expect to travel as a normal part of the job. In InsightCenter the commute values for drive time and mileage are set by team and applied for Home (first location of day) to the first store (work visit location) and last store to home.
Example of thresh-hold values for commute are:
This means the field rep will get paid for mileage and drive time exceeding the thresh-hold values for their first and last drive time and mileage segments for the day.
icWeb Time Entry - mileage and drive time
Mileage/Drive Time is run for the day by the employee on the Time Entry screen by clicking the Submit Mileage/Drive Time button. The following 4 values are displayed for mileage and drive time:
-
Total Miles - optimized miles calculated between home and first store or last store and home
-
Net Miles - total miles minus thresh-hold
-
Drive Time - optimized drive time calculated between home and first store or last store and home
-
Net Drive Time - total miles minus thresh-hold

In the example the commute thresh-hold values are set to 30 miles and 30 minutes of drive time.
To calculate the values:
- Total Miles = 33.95
- Net Miles - (Total Miles) 33.95 miles - (Miles Thresh-hold) 30.00 = 3.95
- Drive Time = 37
- Net Drive Time - (Drive Time) 37 min - (Drive Time Thresh-hold) 30.00 = 7
